SDGs

Taiwanese manufacturers collaborated with Hsinchu Glass to launch a glass container recycling and regeneration service in 2022. That year, nearly 13,000 kilograms of glass bottles were collected and repurposed into soy milk product containers. This initiative successfully reduced approximately 4,500 kilograms of carbon emissions annually and contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by sharing experiences and achievements in sustainability.

To support forest restoration, for every bottle of locally produced soy milk sold, 5% of the profits are donated to the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Hsinchu Branch under the Ministry of Agriculture. These funds are used for reforestation and forest maintenance efforts, contributing to environmental conservation.

The recycling of Hsinchu glass helps reduce the extraction of raw materials, such as silica sand, while also lowering the consumption of soda ash and natural gas, ultimately leading to a reduction in carbon emissions.

W LOOP Circular Action

"When a product or container is marked with a recycling symbol, it signifies recyclability."
Hsinchu Glass Circular System Logo is an inverted triangle, differing from the existing recycling symbol. The dotted lines represent broken glass and serve as an extension of the W Project logo. Containers with this identifiable mark can be directly recycled and reintegrated into the W LOOP system.
"When Glass Breaks"
At W LOOP partner stores across Taiwan, customers who purchase glass products marked with the W LOOP recycling symbol can exchange broken glass containers for a new glass container through the W LOOP recycling mechanism. This initiative ensures a seamless glass recycling process and encourages sustainable consumption.
"Emotional Connection with Containers"
When a glass container becomes part of everyday rituals, broken fragments are not just waste—they hold memories. Through Hsinchu glass recycling, remelting, and remanufacturing, shattered pieces are transformed into new glass cups, carrying a piece of the past into a brand-new form, continuing to accompany daily life.
"W LOOP Glass Recycling Satellite Stations"
To reduce concerns about breaking glass containers, the stores can become W LOOP partner stores, using W LOOP-marked containers for serving beverages or selling products. These stores actively promote glass recycling awareness among consumers, inviting the public to participate in the W LOOP sustainability movement.
Consumers who purchase glass containers at any W LOOP partner store can later exchange broken containers at any participating stores in Taiwan at a discounted price, further supporting the circular economy for glass.
