The public restrooms and exhibition space around the Tourist Service Center were originally fishing gear warehouses. Fishermen rented these spaces to store idle or repairable fishing nets, fish boxes, buoys, anchors, and other tools. The second floor was a large platform where fishermen dried squid, mullet roe, dried fish, and other catches. It was also the best place to watch the beautiful sunset. Naturally, this became a space for fishermen to interact. Unfortunately, after Nanliao Fishing Harbor was abandoned, the government planned it as a tourist and leisure fishing harbor. The subsequent architectural design units did not retain these local spaces full of memories. They demolished one of the fishing gear warehouses and slightly renovated the remaining two buildings, transforming them into a Mediterranean-style appearance, attracting many tourists to stop and take photos.
